How can I rapidly educate and skill up my staff on PPE and personal protection?

Hospitals and quarantine centres are the places where a healthy individual is most prone to getting infected.

Healthcare centres must take a host of measures for better implementation of safety norms to prevent infection, including staff training. According to the WHO, IPC includes many different steps: hand hygiene, decontaminating equipment and devices, cleaning the environment, disposing of biomedical waste safely, protecting healthcare workers, triage and isolation of infected patients, and following standard precautions to prevent virus transmission. Healthcare workers need to be close to patients, which makes the use of personal protection equipment (PPE) like masks, gloves etc. crucial. But using PPE isn’t enough—staff must be trained in how to use them, or PPE can become a source of disease spread.

Many ideas have appeared online of various degrees of reliability, usefulness, and practicality. Our team is looking at those online resources and has found a few that we feel are the most reliable and practical. Other online resources we found are also listed below. You can also see our other sections on infection control and PPE use for more information.

Infection control and prevention involves not just PPE but also facilities, training, procedures, and supplies.
